Stretch Away The Stress
Article contributed by:

Sitting for long
stretches of time every
day, especially in front
of a computer, can take
a toll on your body.
Add in stress, poor
posture and a
workstation that is not
ergonomically set up,
and it is little wonder
that you end up aching
all over at the end of
the day.
When muscles remain
stationary, circulation
decreases and tasks
become more
uncomfortable to
perform. Poor
posture and
inappropriate body
positioning also lead to
strained or weakened
muscles and serious
injuries.
It is therefore
important for you to
schedule short and
simple exercise breaks
into your daily routine.
Stretching and
exercising the muscles
throughout the day help
maintain the body’s
health. These
breaks can be easily
performed at your desk
and will only take a
minute or two.
Here are some stretches
you can do during those
breaks:
Interlock your fingers and rotate your wrists in a clockwise direction. Repeat by rotating anti-clockwise. |
|
|
|
Rest your hands by your side and raise your shoulders. |
|
|
Interlock your fingers and straighten
them 90 degrees from your body. |
|
|
|
Put your right palm on your left shoulder. Stretch by holding your right elbow with your left hand. Repeat by switching sides. |
|
Interlock your fingers and straighten your arms towards the ceiling. |
|
|
Gently tilt your
head towards
your right.
Repeat this
action by
tilting your
head to the
left. |
