The Apple Tree and Me

This is truth of life… spend some time to read and think about it…

There was a boy who loved to play with the apple tree.

He would eat the apples when he was hungry and took a nap under the shade when he was tired.

He loved the tree and the tree was happy.

Time went by…

One day, the boy came back to the tree.

The tree said “Come and play with me.”

“I am no longer a kid, I do not play around a tree anymore” replied the boy.

“I want toys.  I need money to buy them,” he requested.

“Sorry, I do not have money… but you can pick all my apples and sell them,” suggested the tree.

The boy was so excited.  He plucked all the apples on the tree and left happily.

The tree was happy too.

The boy never returned after picking the apples. The tree was sad.

One day the boy, now a man, returned and the tree was excited. “Come and play with me” the tree said.

“I do not have time to play. I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help me?”

“Sorry, I do not have any house.  But you can cut off my branches to build your house.”

The man cut all the branches and left happily.

The tree was glad to see him happy.

The man never returned since then.  The tree was again lonely and sad.

One hot summer day, the man returned and the tree was delighted.

“Come and play with me!” the tree said.

“I am getting old.  I want to go sailing to relax myself.  Can you give me a boat?” the man requested.

“Use my trunk to build your boat,” the tree suggested, “You can sail far away and be happy.”

So the man cut the tree trunk to build his boat.  He went sailing and never returned for a long time.

The tree was happy, but this was not exactly true…

Finally, the man returned after many years.

“Sorry my boy, I have nothing for you now… no more apples for you to eat... no more branches for you to swing… and no more trunk for you to climb,” the tree said.

“I do not have any teeth to bite… I am too old to swing and climb on you now,” the man replied.

“I really cannot give you anything… the only thing left is my dying roots,” the tree said with tears.

“I do not need much now, just a place to rest.  I am tired after all these years,” the man said.

“Good! Old tree roots are the best place to lean and rest on.  Come and sit down with me and rest.”

The man sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears…

Everyone has an apple tree in his life… it is your Parents!

No matter how busy you are, share some time with them.
